Peter Bailey

Peter Bailey is an award-winning author, journalist and filmmaker, well known for his critically acclaimed NiteCap, Paradise Discovered and Miami Kingpins docu-series. As founder and CEO of NiteCap Media his work has helped to shape pop culture and politics both locally and internationally as he was recently honored as a “VI Living Legend of Culture” and named one of Miami's most powerful and influential Black business leaders by Legacy Miami.

Before that Bailey worked as a staff writer for Newsweek, Time and The Miami Herald before going on to produce for NBC. The autobiography he wrote with hip hop legend Trick Daddy was praised by the New York Times as “one of the pop music gems of 2010”. His recent Miami Kingpins series is currently in the top 10 films on Amazon Prime.

Two films from his Paradise Discovered series: The Unbreakable Virgin Islanders and sequel The Unbreakable Virgin Islanders 2.0 based on his now infamous New York Times Op Ed Has America Forgotten the Virgin Islands, took home top honors for best documentary at Toronto's Caribbean Tales International Film Festival and the Grenada Film Festival respectively. As a frequent lecturer at various colleges and universities throughout North America, Bailey's focus has been on advocating for the Caribbean region's ownership of its story.
