Hubert L. Frederick

Hubert L. Frederick, most commonly referred to as Lorenzo, was born and raised on St. Croix. One of six siblings, he credits his close-knit family and their Eastern Caribbean heritage with instilling his devotion to family, community and service.

A graduate of St. Croix Central High School, Frederick earned a bachelor's degree in Accounting and Finance from Florida A&M University and a master's degree in Planning and Economic Development from Georgia State University. During his studies, he helped establish civic and cultural organizations whose members include notable leaders in the Virgin Islands and abroad.

Frederick served in the U.S. Navy Reserve before building a career in financial auditing. He worked as an auditor with the State of Georgia Department of Audits, HSBC and Marine Midland Bank, and gained further experience at Textron Financial, Horace Mann and Finova Capital Corporation. He later served as a Senior Auditor at Deutsche Bank, evaluating financial controls, regulatory compliance and complex financial operations across diverse industries.

After gaining experience in the financial and healthcare sectors, Frederick returned to St. Croix to contribute to the island's economic growth. In 2004, he served as Deputy Commissioner of the Virgin Islands Department of Health, overseeing healthcare operations aimed at improving the quality and accessibility of care. He later joined FirstBank Virgin Islands as a Commercial Loan Officer, supporting local businesses, improving operational processes and helping drive economic development.

A business owner for more than 25 years, Frederick is the Owner and CEO of Laundry Time and the Broker/Owner of Island Insurance Agency. Through these businesses, he has created jobs and supported local economic growth. He also served for many years as board treasurer of the Christiansted Federal Credit Union, co-founded the St. Croix Track Club and served on the Advisory Board of the Small Business Development Center.

Frederick has also engaged the community as a radio talk show host through Money Talk and More and, most recently, The Robert Moorhead Show, leading conversations about financial literacy, economic development and public policy.

He ran for Lieutenant Governor in 2014 and 2018 alongside gubernatorial candidate Moleto Smith and was a senatorial candidate for the 35th Legislature in 2022.

Frederick's legislative priorities include sustainable economic growth, revitalizing agriculture through innovative practices, strengthening local food security, improving public health systems and access to reliable long-term care, and expanding eldercare programs for the territory's aging population.

His journey reflects decades of professional experience, entrepreneurship and dedicated public service, grounded in a deep love for the people of the Virgin Islands and a commitment to holding their trust as a sacred responsibility.
